Hygain Bonafide is a vitamin K supplement specifically designed for horses to support optimal bone density and soundness. The active ingredient, Quinaquanone®, is a patented, water-soluble, and bioavailable form of Vitamin K1 and K2, essential for maintaining healthy bone structure. Vitamin K1 and K2 play a crucial role in the function of osteocalcin, a bone protein that binds minerals and proteins together, promoting stronger, healthier bones and cartilage.

Without sufficient Vitamin K, the binding process for bone formation becomes incomplete, leading to low-density or defective bones. Horses that lack access to high-quality pasture, which is a natural source of Vitamin K, are more likely to develop deficiencies that result in reduced bone density and strength. This is especially true for horses that are removed from Vitamin K-rich pastures and placed on a box/yard regime, where a reduction in bone density can occur within 7-10 days.
